Eyetv 4 (64 bit) & macOS 10.15 Catalina

We are always receiving queries about Eyetv and using it with the latest versions of macOS. To make sure you get things right, we would like to provide a little information and invite you to accompany the development of the latest version of Eyetv.

Apple launched macOS 10.15 Catalina on 7 October 2019. For customers wishing to switch to macOS 10.15 Catalina, a beta version is available for Eyetv 4 (64 bits) & macOS 10.15 Catalina. You can take part in the beta program here. For your info: Eyetv Beta 5 runs under macOS 10.14 Mojave and macOS 10.15 Catalina. According to our schedule, there will be another two or three beta versions before the release at the end of October 2019. Thank you for taking part and testing.

And one more thing:

Supporting Eyetv Tuner and other tuner solutions from third-party manufacturers for the integration of Eyetv 4 (64 bits) involves proceeding as follows:

1. Eyetv Tuner integration
a. Current Eyetv Tuner and priority/majority Eyetv Tuner solution quoted (after registration) (services.geniatech.eu) – a list is published in the forum.

2. Other external tuner solutions

Eyetv 3 (32 bit) & macOS Mojave 10.14

Not everyone is switching over to macOS 10.15 Catalina, at least for the moment, and for some people it will stay that way. In this case, when starting the Mac for the 32-bits app from Evetv 3 in combination with macOS Mojave 10.14, a window appears stating that the application is not optimised for the Mac operating system used. This message also appears for Eyetv if the macOS Mojave 10.14 HighSierra 10.13.4 operating system version is installed on the computer.

Irrespective of this information window, the execution and usual quality of Eyetv is in no way affected. There are no negative implications for the computer or the data on it. Eyetv runs perfectly.

As it is very much expected, as the next step, that Apple will restrict the execution of 32-bits applications on future versions of the MacOS, we would like to keep our customers informed at an early stage about the ongoing development of a 64-bits version of Eyetv. With this step from 32 to 64-bits, smart TV platform EyeTV will continue to meet expectations under iOS, Android and Windows.
